Pools and spas share some chemistry, but the equipment is different — circulation pumps, control packs, jet plumbing and the way swim spas move water. A crew focused on pools tends to treat spa work as a sideline, and many bill steep hourly rates for it. We work on spas and swim spas full-time, so the work is faster, more accurate, and priced flat.
As a general rule, every four to six months for a hot tub — sooner with heavy use. Dissolved solids slowly build up even with perfect chemistry, which is what makes the water feel "hard" or look cloudy. Swim spas filter so efficiently they can often stretch longer, sometimes up to a year on self-cleaning systems. We'll recommend the right interval for your unit and usage.
Absolutely — swim spas are a core part of what we do. They hold far more water and use different equipment than a standard hot tub, including current and self-cleaning systems on many models. We're set up specifically to handle the larger volume and the dual swim-and-soak units that pool crews often struggle with.
The big risk is freeze damage. Water left sitting in the lines, pump or heater can freeze, expand, and crack expensive components over the winter. A proper closing blows out every line, drains and dries the system, and protects the shell and cover — which is exactly why it's worth having done correctly.
Yes. A lot of seasonal crews vanish once pool season ends, but spas run year-round and so do we — repairs, water care, drain-and-cleans and emergency calls included. If your tub goes down in January, you can still reach us.
